Bond Street Mall, Leeds City Centre

Bond Street Mall, Leeds City Centre is a busy city centre shopping mall and bears a sad echo of its past. The loading bay of Boots the Chemist is haunted by the lonesome spectre of a cobbler who was buried with his family in graveyard that used to occupy the land.

The Leeds Central Library

The Leeds Central Library is haunted by the ghost of Thomas Sternberg, a former librarian. In his lifetime he had given some of the library’s books to his friends and it appears that this slightly dishonest act was the reason his ghost would not, or could not, leave his former workplace.

Kirkstall Abbey, Leeds

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds is haunted by a monk; he’s said to be a terrifying figure who creates a completely unsettling atmosphere. Encountered by a policeman in the early Twentieth Century, he refused to ever return to the Abbey ruins again. The alter of the Abbey is also the site of the appearance of the most unusual spectre of a ghostly stag with a young maiden tied between its antlers. The Abbey House Museum is the location of much supernatural activity, giving previous occupants many sleepless nights.

The Padfoot

Known as "The Padfoot" a black demon dog is reported to roam the moors around the outlying villages of Leeds. Described as about the size of a donkey, black, with shaggy hair and large, penetrating eyes. The beast is known to follow travelers at night, looking for an opportunity to waylay them. Any attempt to speak to, or attack the creature is said to give it power over you.

The Treasurer’s House, York

Located in the centre of the historic city of Leeds, the Treasurer’s House has a large number of ghostly inhabitants. The spirit of George Aislaby, who was killed in a duel in the Seventeenth Century, has been seen walking the corridors. The Tapestry Room has a cold and foreboding atmosphere; said to be connected with the murder of a cruel husband by his desperate wife. However the Treasurer’s House is most famous for the sightings of an entire ghostly legion of Roman soldiers marching through the cellar. Seen by more than one reliable witness on more than one occasion, this still stands as one of the most famous and compelling hauntings in the world.
