"MIND" THERAPY CULTS:

"Mind Therapy Cults", or "Mind Science", are therapy methods based on mind science, psychological or neurological, often mixed with the occult or the latent divinity that resides in every individual... and often end up being a "religion for life"... they may not be easy to recognize, but they may become psychologically just as damaging as the cults that require members to dress in robes and chant in the street.

-Ernest Holmes, is considered to be the father of the mind sciences, with the foundation of the "Institute of Religious Science" in 1927, and his book "Science of Mind".

There are dozens of them, with such names as "Religious Science", "Divine Science", "Science of Mind"...

- "Scientology" may be the biggest and most famous, commented on "Western Cults".
- "est" and the "Forum", commented in this section.
- Others are, "Insight I Am", "PSI World", "School of Economics Science", "Mind Awareness", "Lifestream", "Exegesis", "Practical Philosophy", "Mind Development Institute", "Mind Dynamics Progamme"... and the mother of most of them, the "Silva Mind Control".

Silva Mind Control Method:

Most of these therapy cults are descended from the "Silva Mind Control" method, pioneered by Jose Silva, a hypnotist, who begun mental experiments in 1944 in Laredo, Texas, US.

- About 6 million people in 71 countries have paid about $200 each to embark on the 48- hour-long course, during 4 days.. "Advanced courses" offer intense involvement in occult practices.

The 48 hours Course:
It looks scientific, because it starts the first day with the explanation of the Electroencephalogram waves, alpha, beta, delta, and theta... but the "method" is based, not on these scientific data, but on "self-hypnosis", and the "positive thinking" of Norman Vincent Peale... and adds a dash of Christian Science as the clincher...

- The beginning is interesting and useful, but in the third day the "laboratory" is added... it is not a scientific laboratory, but one that is fantasized, with fantasized furniture, where "counselors" are mentally invited. These "counselors" are called "laboratory technicians", or "spirit guides", or "guardian angels"... but they may be actually "demons"... just invite Jesus Christ!.

- The "right-left brain" theory, is false.

- The propaganda, offers increasing power of memory, improving creativity, solving problems, developing ESP, hand levitation... but it may lead you to spiritism with the "counselors". Don't do it. Read the book, "The Silva Mind Control Method".

UFOs:

The "UFOs" ("Unidentified Flying Objects") is a very controversial subject.

- Thousands of people believe there are extraterrestrial intelligent beings with high and sophisticated techniques.

- The "Air Force Project Blue Book", was able to provide a rationale for all but 700 out of 12,600 cases of sightings between 1847 and 1969... most of them were clearly mistakenly identified planets or asteroids, rocket launchings, weather balloons, and atmospheric phenomena...

...But what about the 700 left?...

Four kinds of Encounters:

1- Encounters of the first kind: Observation of a UFO within 500 feet.
2- Encounters of the second kind: Physical traces left behind.
3- Encounters of the third kind: Actual contact with the occupants, with the ETIs ("Extraterrestrial Intelligences"): These are the ones referred to in the film "Close Encounters of the Third Kind".
4- Encounters of the fourth kind: With abduction or examination by these beings. This is the subject of the top-grossing film of all time, "E.T" in 1989.

- The encounters of the third and fourth kind, there are only in films... no one in reality:

... There is not even one "flying saucer" in any place on earth... if there were a "flying saucer" left in Russia, certainly it would have been on TV and in the newspapers many times... but there is no one "flying saucer" left by the ETIs, or captured to them... If there were at least one in some place on earth, you and I would have gone to see it!.

... And certainly, no one Extraterrestrial Humanoid have ever been captured and shown on TV or in any newspaper.... and we do not even have the "words" of any Extraterrestrial Humanoid on tape!... though many people claim to even have had sex with the Extraterrestrial Humanoids!...

... The only evidences we have today are encounters of the first and second kind!... and that's not enough to claim they even exist!...

Heaven's Gate: Heaven's Gate
39 members of this cult committed suicide at Rancho Santa Fe, in San Diego, California, on 3-26-1997. UFOs and reincarnation were the basis of this cult.

Gurdjieff-Ouspensky,
Subud, Renaissance, The "Fourth Way", the "Work":

The essence of Gurdjieff philosophy-religion is to discover the authentic "self".

- It was popularized by his disciple Ouspensky to the point where followers met in groups called "G-O" ("G", Gurdjieff, and "O", Ouspensky").

Doctrine:

It is labeled as "esoteric Christianity"... and it is "esoteric", but no "Christianity".

... It is mostly a "Muslim-Sufi" and "Hindu" doctrine and practices... with an eclectic combination of the Occult, Mysticism, Existentialism, Psychology, and Philosophy... and yes, with a sprinkle of Christianity.

- The basic contention is that the human quest is the existential search for "self", "to know yourself". Prior to discover self, all human beings live in a state of sleep consciousness. The goal is to awaken the conscience, by being transported to higher level of awareness... a hard task that may take years, or a lifetime!...

The Meetings:

They usually meet in small G-O groups, led by a "teacher". They don't advertise the gatherings, they are secret. They meet to read and discuss Gurdjieff's books, and indulging in the Muslim-Sufi whirling dervish-type dances, often accompanied by music composed by Gurdjieff himself (see the "Muslims, Sufi").

- They use the method proposed by Gurdjieff, "The Fourth Way", which is the process to pinpoint which of the different egos of a person is the authentic... today it is called "The Work", popularized by Ouspensky, to become aware of their own imperfections.

- Seekers are encouraged to begin each morning concentrating on putting their real "self" into each part of their bodies, beginning with the toes, and so on... enabling them to become aware of unconscious mannerisms.

God:
Gurdjieff's "theology" leaves no place for the notion of the existence of an objective God who is other than the self... It is not Christianity, though the words "love" and "Jesus" may be used.

However, the "self" always needs "a God", and very often, the "teacher" and "leaders" become the "little gods" of the seeker.

"Elitist corps":

The clandestine nature of the groups give often the illusion of being an elitist corps possessing superior knowledge about the mysteries of life.

- From the speculative philosophy of Gurdjief-Ouspensky emerged a system of thought far different from that of Christianity.

- Some scholars include this group in the "New Age Movement"... and certainly, it has the potential of destroying the self-defenses, the immune system of humility.

- Philosophy is noble, but when it wants to take the place of religion, it is destructive.

- If you are a Christian,

don't you ever forget that Christianity is a million times more important and useful than the "G-O" meetings...

... because the main problem of the "Work" is that it may lead you to forget Christianity as being an outmoded vestige of the past... and even to become an elitist pagan.

Membership:
About 5,000. Headquarters in New York City.

It is difficult to ascertain specific membership because the disciples meet in secret and do not publish statistical information.

George Ivanovitch Gurdjieff (1872-1949):
Born in Alexandropol, Armenia. His father introduced him in the world of the Occult, and he retained a profound interest in the subject for the rest of his life. He traveled to Europe, Africa, and Asia. In Russia stayed until the revolution in 1917. In the Caucasus he founded the "Institute for the Development of Man" in 1919. He died in Paris after being a professor for 16 years.

- Books: "Beelzebub's Tales to His Grandson" or "All is Everything", "Meetings with Remarkable Men", "The Fourth Way", "Life is Only Real When I am".

Peter Demianovith Ouspensky:
He popularized the work of Gurdjieff. Were not for Ouspensky, the name of Gurdjieff no doubt have passed to obscurity.

Muhammad Subud:
In his book "Beelzebub's..." Gurdjieff talks about "a future prophet of consciousness", and many believe he is "Subud", a Javanese, on whom in 1925 a ball of light descended and overwhelmed him; an event called "a latithan" (God's power purifying the soul).

- In 1956 he went to England, gaining a following among former disciples of Gurdjieff, and developed a process for surrendering to God's power (latithan): Prospective recipients enter a dark room, and wait. When the power enters, participants exhibit body contortions and vocal utterances, and the goal of an altered consciousness is achieved.

"Renaissance, or "Fellowship of Friends":
It is one the offshoots of Gurdjieff: A "monastic" group under Robert Burton. 1,400 worldwide.

- They live in affluent splendor in Northern California... because "riches makes higher consciousness more possible". His followers are his "servants" getting money to buy new paintings and porcelains to be added to his Renaisssance's growing collection of artifacts. He prophesies a worldwide economic collapse and nuclear holocaust, that he will scape in his hideaway.

Swedenborgianism,

Church of the New Jerusalem:

Emanuel Swedengorg (1688-1772), from Sweden, developed Mediumistic abilities, automatic handwriting, clairvoyance... and practiced astral travel, journeying to the spirit world to communicate with good and evil angels.

- He made comments on the Bible,

including conversations with Luther, Calvin, St. Augustine, and St. Paul. He proposed eliminating the Pauline Epistles from the Bible, along with much of the Old Testament.

- Today,

Swedenborginism represents one of the three main branches of the "Church of Jerusalem", with 20,000 Americans and 100,000 worldwide.

Address: 139 E. 23rd St., New York, 10001.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Atheism, Marxism:

"Atheism",

proclaims that God does not exist.

- Psalms 14 and 53, calls the Atheists "fools". - - St. Paul calls them "stupid", with "senseless minds", "fools", and "without excuse",

- and Job tells them, "Ask the beasts, and they will teach you, ask the birds of the air to inform you" (Job 12:7)... who made the teeth of the lion, or the eyes of the insects, or the petals of the flowers, or every single leave of the trees?...

St. Paul exclaims:

"For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. Ever since the creation of the world, his invisible attributes of eternal power and divinity have been able to be understood and perceived in what he has made. So this people have no excuse, for although they knew God they did not accord him glory as God or give him thanks. Instead they became futile in their thinking, and their senseless minds were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools; and they exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling a mortal human being, or birds, or animals, or crawling things. That is why God abandoned them in their inmost cravings to filthy practices on dishonoring their own bodies, because they exchanged God's truth for a lie and have worshipped and served the creature instead of the creator, who is blessed forever. (Romans 1:19-25).
---------------------------------------------------------------
Marxism, "Statism":

It is falling apart in USSR and Europe.

- It should be called "Statism",

instead of "Communism", because the properties do not belong to the common people, but to the State.

- And everyone needs God!...

but since they deny the real God, they took as "gods" the leaders of Statim: Stalin was their "little god", and Mao, and Castro is still their own "little god", who can not make a petal of a flower, or an eye of an insect, but who is a most demanding and tyrannic "god".

- Get out of there!... fool, says the Bible!... it can ruin your only life on Earth and in Heaven.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Modernism, Secularism:

"Modernism":

It is the "synthesis of all heresies" which appeared near the beginning of the 20th century.

- It undermines the objective validity of religious beliefs and practices which, it contends, are products of the subconscious developed by mankind under the stimulus of a religious sense.

- It holds that the existence of a personal God cannot be demonstrated, the Bible is not inspired, Christ is not divine, nor did he established or institute the Sacraments.

- A special danger lies in Modernism, which is still influential, because it uses Catholic terms with perverted meanings.

- St. Pius X condemned 65 propositions of Modernism in 1907 in the decree "Lamentabili", and used the encyclical "Pascendi" to explain and analyze its errors.
------------------------------------------------------------
"Secularism":

It is a school of thought, a spirit and manner of action which ignores and/or repudiates the validity or influence of supernatural religion with respect to the individual and social life.

- In describing Secularism in their annual statement in 1947, the bishops of the United States said in part:

- There are many men -and the number is daily increasing- who in practice live their lives without recognizing that this is God's world. For the most part they do not deny God. On formal occasions they may even mention his name. Not all of them would subscribe to thee statement that all moral values derive from merely human conventions. But they fail to bring an awareness of their responsibility to God into their thought and action as individuals and members of society. This, in essence, is what we mean by Secularism".

SO TELL ABOUT YOUR RELIGION, WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE ?

THANK YOU TO THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE ALREADY LISTED VARIOUS DIFFERENT REGLIGIONS
