Although the village of Prestbury once challenged Pluckley as being the ` most haunted village in England`, the only modern ` available` ghost is that which frequents this road. The phantom is that of an faint outline of a rider ` looking like a Cavalier` on a white stallion, though usually the haunting is merely the sound of a horses` hooves. These are heard during spring mornings and are thought to be those made by this phantom cavalier rider who is said to be a messenger to the Royalist during the Battle of Tewkesbury which is about seven miles away? Is his
ghost still trying to deliver some important message?
