Sledmere, East Ridings of YorkshireThere is meant to be a phantom army that passes through the grounds of Sledmere House near to Pocklington, Scarborough. The army is not a forgotten ancient one from bygone an battle but one of as little as 1914. The phantoms are supposedly that of men who once lived in the villageof Sledmere going on their way to fight in the First World War, from where they never return, whether there is any truth in the story, I do not know, but I relate it here anyway so that you can make your own decision, but
on the road out of the village is meant to be the strange monument recalling the event ?
