Has anyone heard of the famous Nostradamus? I just wondered as he can be mentioned on the tv and on the internet.

Yes he was a prophet and he predicted the world wars, the assination of JFK and a lot of other things and has predicted the end of the world in 2012. I think he was wonderful. He used scrying and black magic to get his predictions and also he lost his family to plague.

I studied this guy years ago when I first got into witchcraft as it was claimed he used magic for his predictions which wasnt true, he used what we know now as a horoscope sort of chart.
I am also a trance medium, and it was claimed that Nostradamus used trance to get information from spirits. I do doubt that theory very strongly. He was also a healer and did some fine work.
When i was in America, we debated this guy for months on a forum.. Some real interesting views were aired tho, which isnt a bad thing.

Nostradamus was born Michel de Nostredame his name in latin is Nostradamus, he was apparently a seer who based his predictions on judicial astrology — the astrological assessment of the 'quality' of expected future developments.
He lost his first wife and children in the plague but went on to marry a lady called Anne Ponsart Gemele and, with her help he first published his first set of quantrains, which is a poem with 4 lines. It was these quatrains that the predictions were in.
He wrote most of his stuff in a mix of Latin, Greek and French and left letters out of words or changed letters. This was done as he would have been tried as a magician otherwise.
Sceptics all over have said that because of that, then anyone could interpret any of his predictions as they see fit, which if you try and read his book, is true.
One of his quatrains, which everyone seems to know was

'Beasts ferocious from hunger will swim across rivers:
The greater part of the region will be against the Hister,
The great one will cause it to be dragged in an iron cage,
When the German child will observe nothing.'

Could that refer to WW 2 and Hitler?

Seriousley if anyone gets the chance to study this guy, do so.. Its all fascinating, but you do need an open mind as you can interpret so much with others suggestions rather than look at what you think his writings are about.

I have heard many different views on him. A lot of people tend to think that you can make his predictions fit certain things. I personally think that that can be said for all sorts of predictions. I also believe that not everything is set in stone and sometimes things beng said and make things happen.
