IT'S JUST NOT (PARA)NORMAL!

Old creaky floorboards

Everyone seems to be suffering from paranormal fever at the moment. Anything unusual that happens in people's home nowadays people are automatically assuming it's because there's a ghost in their house.

Footsteps along the floorboards, creaking doors, pictures falling off walls, pipes making strange noises. All have been reported as being paranormal activity yet every single one of them can be and usually is proven to be nothing more than just floorboards expanding and contracting with the heat in the house, a slight breeze running through the house via an open door, window, air vent, etc which causes doors to creak or slam shut, plaster weakened by the nail so it cannot support the weight of a picture and frame, air in the water pipes.

I have experienced all of the above and they were all proven to be what I have just explained. So why do people still need to believe in ghosts?

YEAH I HEARD YOU SAY;-  WE  TRY AND MAKE SURE WE'VE RULED OUT ALL THE ABOVE WHEN OUT ON A GHOST HUNT !!
OK THEN ITS THAT GUY IN THE CORNER WHO'S HAD 9 PINTS, A CURRY AND 8 SLICES OF BEANS ON TOAST THE NIGHT BEFORE, AND IS NOW SAT IN THE CORNER OF THE ROOM WITH ALL YOU GUYS ON A GHOST HUNT LETTING OFF WIND;- AND YOU'RE ALL  TRYING TO BLAME IT ON SOME POOR GHOST !!

The Three Main "Enemies" In Ghost hunting!

I believe that Psychology is at play a lot of the time and also as a Sceptic these are my views. I am not saying they are right even though there has been Experiments conducted in labs around the world about this but they are still my own personal views! There are three main "Enemies" of a Ghost hunter these are: Psychosomatic Response, Hysteria and Bias:

Psychosomatic Response:

Psychosomatic Response is descriptive of Physical Symptoms (Real or Perceived) that are caused by some form Psychological Stress to manifest a mental state in the form of physical symptoms, In Ghosthunting these experiences can be experienced in the form of the feeling of been touched usually on the top of the head of hands, Shortness of breath, Tingling sensations in the limbs, Sudden sensations of pain (ususally in the form of a headache or tension across the eyes or head), Dizziness, Visual hallucinations, nausea, and even equilibruim change (energy rushing through the body).

These effects have been tested and confirmed multiple researches in various labs. It is also important to understand that there is an element of belief that must be involved in order to Induce Psychosomatic Response which is why more believers will have these experiences than Sceptics but it has happend to both with a 89% more believers.
Certain Individuals may be more acceptable to this Phenomenon than others and also from myself learning about Infra Sound Waves the same thing can be said.
Several Studies have linked Psychosomatic Response with Adrenaline. Adrenaline can amplify the senses which in turn increase the possibilty of perceiving a normal event as a paranormal one.

What makes psychosomatic response so difficult is that the experience is very real to the participant also its more likely to initate while on your own but when with others this can and will have a good chance of turning into Mass Hysteria or even Auto suggestion.

Hysteria

Mass Hysteria is Characterized by the rapid spread of Conversion Disorder, a condition involving the appearence of Bodily complaints for which there is no Organic basis.
In such episodes, psychological distress is converted or channeled into Physical symptoms. There are two types: Anxiety Hysteria and Motor Hysteria.

Anxiety Hysteria: This is a shortor duration, usually lasting a day, and is triggered by the sudden perception of a threatening agent, most commonly a strange odor.
Symptoms typically include headache, dizziness, Breathlessness, and feeling weak or shakey.

Motor Hysteria: This is Prevalent in intolerable social situations such as Strict school/Work, religious settings, anything where discipline is excessive. Symptoms include Trance-like states, melodramatic acts of rebellion known as Histrionics, and what Doctors would call "Psychomotor agition" (build up of anxiety over a long period of time and it results in disruptions to the nerves or neurons that send messages to the muscles tiggering temporary bouts of twitching, spasms, and even shaking. This appears gradually over times and takes weeks or months to subside.

Ghost hunters are often affected by Demopathic Hysteria. This involves typically, that someone has followed then home from an investigation or while on an investiagtion they feel a certain presense in following them around the Locations. This can also include certain aspects of Psychosomatic Response.

Bias

This can occur when an Investigator is aware of certain aspects of the Location where they are Investigation maybe certain History points, Spoke to people and know what kinda of things has occured and what people have thought they have experienced. Bias can occur from both angles believer and non believer if they know certain information which can be retrieved from the memory and sub-Consiously. Also when certain people will believe anything a medium has to say sometimes without even checking history they will believe what has been said as they believe in that person. This makes people Gullible and they must question it but it also goes for sceptics who believe in the theory side of things and take in everything they read.

If a person has a paranormal experience we cannot say they are lying or making up a story from a sceptics point of view its just that we can only rely on certain techniques for gathering information. That person experience may feel very real to them but without Substantial data/info to back up the claim maybe Footage caught, EVP etc. are are often left with a simple answer! The Phenomenon has a basis in Psychology. The importance of this lies in backing up instrument Readings. If there is something there and maybe even interacting with someone you should be able to get a measurement of the "energy" that is causing the Phenomenon. Rely on your instrumental equipment if you know how to use it correctly and your knowledge especially if you have any Psychology background and know what the mind can do. Instuments cant lie, yes they can give negative readings but if you know what you are doing you wont get this. How-ever the human brain can be deceptive.

Hello chief,

It's above normal too. I often wondered at SNE, how many skeptics have read the stories I post here. Heck, chief I'll never know since few have posted in those threads.

Here is a good one from the Telegraph...

2008 to 2012 was a long time without a skeptic posting in his or her favorite topic.

Now it's back quiet here while our many guests have a read.....

See you on the board soon,

Chief
