In 1976 a couple took over the management of Bracebridge cafe in Sutton Park, the nearest park entrance to the cafe being Four Oaks Gate. The cafe had once been a hunting lodge to King Henry VIII.
In 1977 the lady of the couple was alone one night in bed in the cottage attached to the cafe, with her daughters pet collie dog lay down on the floor next to the bed , keeping her company. The dog she reports started to growl and backed its self up trying to hide under her bed. She looked towards the window of the room wondering what the dog was growling at , to see before her the face and regalia of Henry VIII appear. She didn't tell anyone about the first event thinking that no-one would believe
her and that it may have been a figure of imaganation. Untill a few months later another incident occurred, she and her partner had just got
into bed one night when they both heard the noise of horses hooves coming from what had used to be the old stable block, but had now been converted into a new food kiosk. They both then heard what sounded like big boulders being rolled/ dropped in the brook which runs alongside the cafes cellar. THe couple go on to report that the water tanks in the kitchen started to fill up, although nobody had turned the taps on for them.
A door which leads from the kitchen area to the lounge they heard being
opened and footsteps walking upto the lounge door, then the lounge's
door handle being tried. The couple then became afraid pushing furniture
up against the door of the room they where in , barricading themselfs in
before phoning the police, who on their arrival found no signs of a break
in, no footprints in the muddy ground outside, nothing.

since 1977 there has been several reports of King Henry VIII's ghost
been seen around Bracebridge pool cafe and Four Oaks Gate area of
Sutton Park, his ghost as been seen by both visitors to the park walking
their dogs late at night in the park, courting couples, and park rangers .

King Henry VIII's ghost seen again in sutton park

My uncle (Mr Raven) has told me that it has been reported that a park keeper told him that about 3 months ago (april - may 2006) - some lads fooling around on mini moter bikes in the park near Bracebridge pool cafe near to the back of the cafe where the small wooden double plank bridges are in the wooded area saw what they believe to have been King Henry VIII's ghost on horse back riding towards the cafe area . ( a large fat man with a beard wearing a funny sort of what looked like a 3 pointed hat, tights and pointed shoes on horse back) has they had described him
