According to the local paper 'Guardian Journal' in February 1971 poltergeist activity was experienced here for some months and then, as usual- stopped as mysteriously as it started. Shortly afterwards however it's reported that Brian Palmer, the manager at the time went to lock the basement one evening and saw apparently sitting at one of the tables a man 'wearing a Quaker costume with a dark coat and a large hat', Slightly disturbing to him though was the fact that the face seemed to have no features 'It was just an oval mist'.
Other members of the staff and a few late customers have commented on the footsteps which they hear walking towards a particular table in this basement room which was only discovered in 1969 when the building was being renovated and is thought to be connected with nearby ancient caves
